Psychologist

Zillen is a South African trained Clinical Psychologist with more than 30 years of post-registration experience. He has extensively worked in tertiary health settings, private practice and correctional institutions, and has over time consulted with a diverse group of patients presenting with a wide variety of problems. He has selected, trained and supervised local and international mental health students. He also trained and mentored medical professionals and psychologists within a tertiary hospital mental health environment. He was primarily trained in the psychodynamic theoretical paradigm, but also has experience in trauma, systems theory, the person-centred approach and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He works mostly in the adult mental health field. Zillen has special interests in mental health management, clinical supervision, mood and anxiety disorders, relationship problems, diagnosis and personality psychology. Other areas of interest include projective tests and intellectual disability assessments.

Zillen is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board (reg. nr. 90-07013) and with the New Zealand Psychological Society (Membership nr 14781).

Zillen joined East Auckland Psychology in 2021 as an after-hours service provider.
