Wayne Frecklington, BSc (Psychology, Physiology), Grad Dip Psychotherapy, PG Dip HSc (Psychotherapy), PBANZ, MNZAP
Wayne completed his initial psychotherapy qualification in 2001. He has experience working with a diverse range of populations including adolescents and families, refugees, and clients with addictions. The majority of his career has been spent in general adult mental health, including three years in a specialist psychotherapy intensive day programme for people with complex psychological difficulties.
Wayne works with individuals, couples, families and groups using a range of integrative strategies. He tends to use a more focused and structured approach initially, aimed at reducing distressing symptoms. For those who want to commit to greater change, he enjoys applying depth models to increase flexibility in personality and develop a greater sense of clarity, authenticity, purpose, values, meaning, and capacity for joy. Wayne's interpersonal style is warm, sensitive, transparent and direct. Wayne is also able to provide supervision to other professionals. He moved to Nelson in 2017 with his family to better align with his values and engage with the natural world.
