Maureen Hackett is a consultant psychiatrist based in Nelson. She was trained in the US and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Hackett maintains
certifications in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatry.
Dr. Hackett has extensive clinical experience in public and private sectors in the US and NZ. Prior to joining the Nelson Clinic, she taught at metropolitan academic medical centers in the US and in Auckland.
Dr. Hackett specializes in adult psychiatry with special interest in Psychosomatic Medicine; the interface between physical and mental health, and integrative psychiatry. She works to understand and treat all aspects of clients’ lives to help them achieve their best life. Dr. Hackett has extensive experience in psychopharmacology and looks to integrate in treatment plans reducing addictive habits, improving nutrition, exercise and social connectedness to meet clients’ needs.
