Lara provides a non-judgmental, compassionate and safe space by placing value on the therapeutic relationship. She offers a person-centered approach drawing on a range of therapeutic modalities to meet the needs of the client. These include evidence-based practices such as solution-focused, motivational interviewing, Te Whare Tapa Whā (mental, physical, family/community and spiritual well-being), and other strength based approaches with a sprinkling of humour when needed.
Lara has experience in supporting family/whānau impacted by alcohol or other drug misuse as well as peri-natal support and parenting. She has an interest in women’s health, mindfulness and te ao Māori. Lara is Pākehā and strives to work as an authentic Tangata Tiriti (treaty partner) and follow tikanga when working with Tangata whenua and other cultural groups.
