Sally Scott, BA (Psychology) B Counselling
Being a mature counsellor, I bring not only academic training, but also many years of life experience and my own journey of ongoing learning to my counselling practice. My specialist areas are trauma,
mental health concerns, disability and parenting challenges, stress burnout, chronic health conditions (ME/CFS), stress burn out, cancer, and neurodiversity. I work with a range of clients including young adults, retirees, immigrants, English second language speakers, tertiary students, and neurodivergent. I also specialise in trauma and am available to assist clients seeking support through the ACC sensitive claims service.
I am committed to creating a safe, non-judgemental, accepting, calming, comfortable space where clients feel encouraged to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I collaborate with clients to develop strategies that honour their own needs and goals, by facilitating self-awareness, resilience, and growth. My compassionate, respectful approach draws on a range of modalities which focus on empowering clients to embrace their strengths, successfully navigate challenges, and thrive in their own unique ways.
I also offer animal-assisted counselling. My therapy dog is a gentle and affectionate female labradoodle. The presence of a loving dog can have a stabilising and calming effect, especially if you’re stressed. Animals can help you relax, minimise distress, and offer a sense of safety that puts you at ease.
