ADHD, ASD Combined ADHD/ASD Assessments
At the Nelson Clinic, we offer a streamlined ADHD assessment and treatment service.
ADHD assessments are conducted by trained psychologists and if treatment is recommended an appointment can be booked with our ADHD Coaching team and/or our Psychiatry team.
Psychological Assessments
The Nelson Clinic can provide psychological and psychiatric assessments to meet the requirements of a wide range of referral questions. Clients may need psychometric assessment for a particular agency, employer, or for their own self-knowledge. Testing can be used to clarfiy diagnostic questions and can be used to increase a person's understand of themselves and factors that affect their thought, feelings and behaviours. Psychological assessments are also routinely provided in treatment planning, medico-legal process, ACC-related functional assessments, ACC mental injury claims, and sensitive claims-related specialist assessments. We do not provide Family Court assessment reports, though some of our contracted clinical psychologists may be available to do so in their independent practises.
Neuropsychological Assessments
Neuropsychological Consultation and Intervention Services
Difficulties with brain functioning following neurological injury often impact patients, their families, and performance in work, leisure, and educational environments. We provide neuropsychological assessment services that meet ACC requirements and well as private clients.
Clinical neuropsychologists can work with patients and families to address a variety of needs including:
- Developing strategies to approach demands at home, work, and school that takes advantage of a person’s strengths.
- Providing treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety, challenging behavioral changes, and relationship distress – especially for those who experience cognitive difficulties (e.g., memory impairment) that may make traditional therapy challenging.
- Consulting with teachers and employers to inform academic and vocational planning.
- Implementing programs to manage fatigue and other symptoms – to promote rehabilitation and recovery.
