Jenny Owen, PGDip Health Psychology, PGDip CBT, MSc Health Psychology, BSc Psychology & Sociology

Psychologist

Jenny has worked as a registered Health Psychologist since 2016 in the UK, where she supported clients to achieve their goals in a variety of services. Her broad range of experience includes working in weight management, recovery from addictions and helping people to navigate the psychological aspects and behavioural changes needed for managing long-term health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and other physical health complaints.

After her health psychology training, she also completed a PG Dip in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in 2019. Jenny has practised as a CBT therapist in several mental health services, supporting people with problems like depression, stress, anxiety and sleep disorders. Her work has also included helping clients build confidence in making their way back into the workplace after long periods of unemployment due to physical or mental health problems.

In 2020 she moved to New Zealand and made Bleheim her home. She currently works in the community supporting clients through the full range of life's challenges, empowering clients to enhance their mental and physical wellbeing. Jenny has a special interest in the connection between body and mind and enjoys helping people manage their physical health better using psychological tools and techniques, including chronic health conditions such as persistent pain.

More recently she has also been focused on working alongside clients with ADHD, supporting them to thrive by helping to recognise their strengths and values and developing skills. She uses a strength-based approach, switching between modalities such as CBT, ACT, EMDR and elements of IFS and mindfulness practices to suit individual clients.
