Victoria Watkins, BSc. Psychology (Hons.), D.Clin.Psy. MNZCCP
Victoria is an experienced Clinical Psychologist trained in the UK. Victoria gained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2004 and has spent most of her career working with children, young people and their families as well as with parents. Victoria is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.
Victoria has a breadth of experience working in both public health and private practice in UK, Australia and New Zealand supporting adults, children, and families with a variety of challenges. Victoria has specialised in attachment and provides specialist attachment assessments, consultations and treatments as well as a range of other approaches. Victoria uses attachment theory to underpin her work but is an eclectic practitioner and draws on a variety of treatments according to the needs of her clients.
Victoria has worked extensively with young adults and adolescents with complex trauma, children with mild to moderate mental healthifficulties, and with infants and young children with their parents to support attachment relationships. Victoria is a trained in Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) a specialist attachment therapy. Victoria also has a special interest in Polyvagal theory and the mind-body connection and is also a trained yoga teacher.
More recently Victoria has also developed an interest in neurodiversity and a passion for supporting parents of beautifulneurodivergent kids. Victoria moved to Nelson with her kiwi partner and child and loves living in Nelson. Victoria is a warm and highly skilled practitioner who values collaboration and compassion in her practice.
